R OPEN PRACTICE SESSIONS

These sessions are invitations to come together and practise alongside each other, an open studio of people working autonomously in the same space be it indoor or outdoors. Open Practice Sessions are central to Rhyzome Choreographic School, as here we explore and negotiate what it means to cultivate an environment of working alongside each other and in extension with the world we inhabit!

Through this format we ask the facilitating artists to offer some ideas they are interested in as starting points for exploration or to share a window or a practice for people to play and work with in their own ways.

Open practice sessions include writing and drawing materials and are held for 2 hours followed by a shared discussion with all the participants. These sessions encourage a multidisciplinary way of working however they are anchored to the body and presence, therefore the space remains free of laptops and phones.

BELINDA PAPAVASILIOU + EVA PAPAVASILIOU

OPEN PRACTICE: rhyzome

With a shared interest in collaboration, Eva and Belinda as an artistic duo, founders of Rhyzome and sisters shared some thoughts in regards to the politics of working together and posed the questions: how do we find our own practice in a shared environment? How do we allow others to influence our work while remaining centered to our own explorations?

TANJA BROWN IN RESIDENCE: 01/03/2026 - 06/03/2026

Tanja Brown has shared a glimpse of her environmental movement practice at Athalassa's Park followed by an additional session, guiding us deeper into moving and mark making in the environment.

This session acted as Tanja’s first sharing of ideas/inspirations that she explored further in her residency at Rhyzome Choreographic School.

Threads of inspiration
